When Kimberley puts on her safety boots and grabs her brush cutter, she's not just heading out to work, she’s stepping into a space where she feels confident, included, and valued. As the only woman in GreenInc’s Adelaide Hills landscape maintenance team, Kimberley is proof that we are breaking new ground on job sites and in workplace culture.

A Passion for Outdoor Work

For Kimberley, working outside has always been more than just a job, it’s a passion.

"I love being out in nature," she says. "Every day is different. One day I could be mowing a reserve, the next I'm brush cutting near new housing estates. I like that I get to see different places and that I'm not stuck inside."

Kimberley joined GreenInc after looking for a role where she could do physical, hands-on work in the outdoors. What she found was not only meaningful and consistent employment in landscape maintenance—but a team that supported her to grow and thrive.

Diverse and Inclusive Workplaces in Landscape Maintenance

GreenInc is a landscape construction and maintenance social enterprise backed by Bedford that is committed to providing inclusive employment for people of all abilities and backgrounds. Kimberley’s role is part of GreenInc’s growing operations in the Adelaide Hills, where the team maintains parks, reserves, and public spaces across a number of new and established developments.

From mowing, brush cutting and spraying, to pulling weeds and removing rubbish, Kimberley plays a key role in ensuring the green spaces around Hills housing estates stay clean, healthy, and enjoyable for local communities.

Being the only woman on her team hasn’t been a barrier—in fact, it’s something Kimberley takes pride in.

"The guys are really respectful and supportive. Everyone treats each other equally. There’s no judgement. We all do the same work, and we help each other out," she explains.

Supporting Growth and Development

One of the ways GreenInc supports team members like Kimberley is through access to training and development. When she joined, Kimberley didn’t have a White Card, which is essential for working safely on construction and maintenance sites.

GreenInc has covered the cost of her training and helped her complete the requirements, removing a key barrier and opening up new future possibilities.

Open Communication and a Respectful Culture

GreenInc’s values of respect, open communication and teamwork are central to its success as a diverse and inclusive landscape construction social enterprise. For Kimberley, that culture makes all the difference.

“We check in with each other. If I have questions or need help, someone always listens. I’ve never felt like I was left out or not good enough. It’s a really good place to work.”

Her supervisor and team members back that up—Kimberley is known for her reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to tackle any task. Whether it’s clearing overgrown sections of parkland or restoring a garden bed in a housing development, Kimberley brings energy and focus to every job.

Making a Difference Through Social Enterprise

As a landscape construction and maintenance social enterprise, GreenInc is about more than mowing lawns and clearing weeds. It’s about creating employment opportunities that build confidence, connection, and community.

"I feel proud of the work I do, we make places look better and help people enjoy their neighbourhoods. That feels really good."
