Ebony's Path to Purpose

Each day, when Ebony steps onto a GreenInc site, she is building a future shaped by purpose, passion and connection to the land. 

As a proud Indigenous woman and mother of two, Ebony brings strength, resilience and a deep connection to the land into everything she does. Her journey with GreenInc is not just about building a career but about also channeling her passion for the environment, learning new skills and setting a powerful example for others in her community. From using new tools to understanding plant care, Ebony is growing her confidence, expanding her knowledge and embracing every opportunity to make a meaningful contribution. At GreenInc, Ebony has found not only a supportive and inclusive workplace, but also a platform to explore her ambitions, connect with Country and inspire others to pursue their goals with confidence.

Before joining GreenInc, Ebony dedicated her time to raising her two children. While caring for her family is deeply fulfilling, she also had a strong desire to pursue a career that aligns with her passion for the environment. Motivated to turn that vision into reality, Ebony enrolled in TAFE, where she successfully completed a Certificate II and III in Horticulture and began looking for hands-on opportunities to build on her learning. Ebony discovered GreenInc online while exploring opportunities to apply her horticulture training.

Today, Ebony is a valued member of GreenInc’s inclusive and growing team, where she is actively shaping her career. Through meaningful, hands-on work and a commitment to continuous learning, she is building a future grounded in purpose and growth. 

GreenInc is a landscape construction social enterprise that is part of the Bedford Group, with a strong commitment to inclusive employment. For Ebony, joining a workplace where diversity is embraced and everyone is given the opportunity to thrive has been a game-changer. Her experience with GreenInc has been extremely positive, allowing her to develop valuable skills in operating a diverse range of tools, caring for plants and most importantly, working confidently and safely on site.

Ebony’s impact goes beyond the landscapes she maintains. She is deeply committed to being a positive role model, not only for her children, but also for her peers and others in the community who are considering new career pathways. 

With a strong sense of purpose, she strives to demonstrate what is possible and actively encourages others to pursue employment, particularly in industries where diverse representation has traditionally been limited.

Through her work and determination, Ebony is helping to pave the way for greater inclusion and opportunity within the landscape construction sector.

Ebony’s journey with GreenInc marks the beginning of a broader vision for her future. With a deep connection to the land and a growing skill set in horticulture and landscape construction, she aspires to build a career in land management. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the regeneration of native vegetation and the protection of natural ecosystems for future generations.
