When you meet Josh, one of our valued team members at GreenInc Landscape Construction, you quickly see how much he loves what he does. Whether he’s planting trees, laying turf, or building something new with his team, Josh brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a love for the outdoors to every project.
From Woodwork to GreenInc
Josh’s journey with Bedford began back in 2012. For a few years, he worked as a supported employee in the Phoenix woodworking warehouse, building skills and gaining experience. But over time, Josh wanted to try something new.
“In 2017, I came to Bedford’s APG and did a full week of work,” he explains. “After that, they asked if I would like to continue, and I said yes because I really enjoyed it.”
That decision led him into the world of landscape construction and out of supported employment in 2023. That was the year that GreenInc grew out of APG, Bedford’s commercial garden maintenance business, and Josh proudly joined our new social enterprise. He has since helped to shape landscapes across the northern suburbs of Adelaide.
Finding Inspiration in the Outdoors
For Josh, landscape construction was a natural fit. After years of working indoors, he found that being outside gave him a sense of freedom and satisfaction that working inside could not match.
“I just like being outdoors, feeling the weather and the breeze and enjoy being out in the fresh air rather than being indoors in a job.”
His love for nature shines through in his work. Whether it’s preparing a new garden bed, planting trees, or laying turf, Josh takes pride in making each site look its best.
Learning and Growing Every Day
Over the years, Josh has developed a wide range of skills to help set up his career in the landscape construction sector. He has learned tree planting, turf laying, raking, mulching, and jute matting, and he enjoys seeing the results of his work come to life. Josh has also learned drip lining, which is a type of drip irrigation, where a network of pipes called “drip lines” is laid along garden beds or under mulch and slowly drip water out, soaking into the soil and around plant roots. It’s a great way to irrigate, conserve water and reduce evaporation.
“I like doing front yard work where you make the front yard look nice,” he says with a smile. “I enjoy planting, tree tying, raking, and laying down turf.”
At GreenInc, we are on a mission to move the earth to make a difference by creating meaningful employment for people of all abilities, and Josh is a great example of how opportunity and support can help people thrive. He credits his managers and team leaders for helping him succeed in his role.
“The managers and team leaders have been really supportive and good,” he says.
Proud Moments and Future Goals
One of Josh’s proudest achievements is his work as part of the team bringing the central lake landscape at Virginia Grove to life. “I really enjoyed the work we did there,” he says. “It was a big job, and it looked great when we finished.”
Looking ahead, Josh is focused on continuing to grow with GreenInc while working toward is personal goals. “I’m trying to save to get my own house and travel more in the future,” he shares. “And I want to keep working with GreenInc.”
Moving The Earth to Make a Difference Together
Josh’s story is a reminder of what GreenInc Landscape Construction is all about: creating sustainable landscapes while providing a pathway into inclusive employment opportunities that make a real difference in people’s lives. His enthusiasm, commitment, and love for the outdoors inspire everyone around him.
We are proud to have Josh as part of the GreenInc team and can’t wait to see what he achieves next.
